Representatives
of WEST ISLIP REMEMBERS, a not-for-profit organization which has received and distributed
over $50,000 to West Islip families that lost loved ones on September 11, 2001,
gratefully accepted a generous donation of $10,000 from the New York State
Fraternal Order of Police at a meeting of the West Islip Independent Club on
November 25, 2002. WEST ISLIP
REMEMBERS President Eliot Bloom, in accepting the donation from Fraternal Order
of Police President Frank Ferrera, stated “our organization is extremely
grateful to receive this generous gift, which will allow us to continue to help
local families who have experienced the tragedy of September 11,
and will help us create a lasting memorial to the memory of those who were
lost.” Also on hand to thank the
Fraternal Order of Police was Mrs. Patricia Rosen, who lost her husband on
9/11, and who has acted as an advisor and as a liaison between WEST ISLIP
REMEMBERS and some of the local families.
